Bio-Rad Relocation and Renovation Awarded NWCCC 2010 Distinguished Project
Customer: Bio-Rad
Project Location:Woodinville, Washington
The Bio-Rad medical device manufacturing facility in Woodinville, Washington needed to relocate their existing warehousing capabilities to an expanded facility in nearby Maltby in order to provide areas for expanded manufacturing labs, offices, and support spaces. As an FDA-licensed good manufacturing practice (GMP) enterprise, the process for Bio-Rad’s relocation and expansion required diligent planning to facilitate the construction work between multiple sites to preserve the FDA compliance standards. In addition, the construction necessitated careful phasing to maintain manufacturing operations with minimal interruption.
Harris Group worked with contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis and a team of design and construction professionals to collaborate, model, sequence, and ultimately construct the warehouse relocation and manufacturing area renovations. Harris Group’s contribution involved planning and programming; design development; and construction phase support for significant renovations and upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and HVAC building support utility systems.
The Bio-Rad relocation project was recently awarded the Northwest Construction Consumer Council (NWCCC) 2010 Distinguished Project for private projects under $10 million. The design and construction sequence allowed FDA approvals to be accomplished according to the expedited schedule as planned. This design/build partnership resulted in a successful project outcome, and today Bio-Rad enjoys their convenient and efficient co-located operations in Woodinville and Maltby.
