Harris Group Architect Leo Cosgrove has recently completed a course in continuing education in Laboratory Planning and Design sponsored by the University of Maryland School of Architecture and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). “The program covered all aspects of planning laboratory facilities in the modern regulatory and scientific environment,” Cosgrove says of the intensive five-day symposium. “It provided another update to current practices.”

“It was particularly effective in helping us hone skills we already have,” Cosgrove adds. “Customers are concerned about environmentally smart design and energy conservation, and how the application of these concepts will help them manage operating costs and become more economical without compromising the mission of their laboratory endeavors.”

Cosgrove has over 20 years of specialized experience in all phases of design, including conceptual development, pre-design activities, master planning, schematic design, design development, cost and schedule estimating and control, planning and execution of detail design and specification, and code review, as well as construction administration for both new construction and renovation/expansion work. He has served as Project Architect for numerous biotechnology, chemical, and manufacturing customers, including Amgen/Immunex Corporation.

Cosgrove has a Masters of Architecture from the New School of Architecture and Design and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is a registered architect in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado and Illinois.
