Harris Group Inc. engineer Debra Y. Newton, was recently presented a "Dedicated Service Award" by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The award recognizes Newton's 10-plus years of service to ASME. She has served on the Council of Education and the Council of Member Affairs.
Newton works with Harris Group, a consulting engineering firm, in its industrial manufacturing business unit. A facilities systems specialist, she focuses on process and technology-based manufacturing industries such as brewing and biotechnology. Newton is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Denver.
The ASME Board of Governors approved the establishment of the Dedicated Service Award in 1983. It honors "unusual dedicated voluntary service to the Society marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, enthusiasm and faithfulness."
