Harris Group has teamed with another engineering firm to provide the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) with independent engineering analysis, oversight, and review of demonstration- and commercial-scale biorefinery projects selected by DOE for cost-sharing grants. These grants will support the development of cost-effective cellulosic ethanol as an alternative transportation fuel. DOE’s funding will leverage over $1.2 billion in total investment in these biorefineries. Harris Group and its engineering partner will monitor and advise on these projects as they proceed from inception toward start-up and operation. The first round of six grants has already been awarded.
