Boeing | Ladson, SC

Project Overview

The Interiors Responsibility Center Project (IRC) is part of a $1 billion announced investment at Boeing's campus in Charleston, South Carolina.

Harris Group’s work includes 118,000 sf of manufacturing/utility space at ground level, 22,000 sf of office at ground level, 15,000 square foot cafeteria at ground level, a 33,000 square foot office mezzanine, and a 15,400 square-foot mechanical and electrical equipment mezzanine.

Highlights
  • 15,000 square foot cafeteria

  • 118,000 square feet of manufacturing and utility space at ground level

  • 55,000 square feet of office space at ground and mezzanine level

  • 938-ton chiller and cooling tower cell addition.

Sitework includes grading, stone column ground improvement, paving, storm drainage, domestic water, and fire water alterations in previously developed areas of the site.  The building structure and envelope includes steel framing on spread footings, precast lower walls, insulated metal panel siding and TPO roof on insulated metal roof deck.

HVAC systems include a new 938-ton chiller and cooling tower cell addition at the existing chilled water plant, chilled water AHUs, four additional modular condensing hot water boilers, VAV terminal units in office areas, smoke exhaust system, and energy management control system.

The Challenge

Design within the constraints of a complex, existing operating facility. Coordinating increased utility requirements to serve planned expansions.
