Combined Cycle Plant Water Treatment Upgrade
Southern Power Company | Plant Franklin

Project Overview
To meet increased water demand from a third generating unit and steam augmentation, the Plant Franklin WTP was upgraded to ensure reliable, cost-effective capacity expansion. Originally designed in 2001, the plant now supplies approximately 1,000 GPM of condensate makeup water through comprehensive system enhancements.

Key Highlights
- Replaced the original clarifier with an advanced ultrafiltration membrane system.
- Added two new 2-pass RO trains, increasing capacity by 500 GPM.
- Installed two degasifiers and two mixed-bed demineralizers for improved water quality.
- Upgraded downstream operations with new sludge thickener tanks and bypass lines for seamless integration.
- Removed aging equipment, including multimedia filters, clarifiers, and sludge tanks, to modernize the facility.
